aaaaanyways. i haven't done a top 5 post in a while. so here's to my...
(top 4) best dates
in no particular order
1. breakfast & the world cup & the drive-in
last summer i was up in rexburg at school. last summer was also the world cup, if you don't recall. my friend justin had been crushin' a little bit on amy. so he called me one saturday morning and asked if amy and i wanted to come over and he and riley would make us breakfast. so, we did. the four of us just hung out in our sweats and ate eggs, bacon, pancakes, and french toast. the boys cleaned up the mess in the kitchen and then we watched the united states play england. i'm pretty sure there was also a pretty awesome backrub train going on too. after the game was over we went our separate ways to get some homework and chores done. but later that night justin asked us to go to the drive-in with him and another friend. we saw...marmaduke? it was completely retarded. but it was the drive-in. and we were on a couch in the back of a truck. so it was fantastic. it was suuuuch a good day. amen.
2. glow in the dark at the caves
it was the first weekend of school last fall semester and emily and i were bored out of our miiiiiinds. my friend dusty called me and said a bunch of them we're gonna go play glow in the dark hide and seek at the caves and asked if emily and i wanted to join their group. uhhh, yes please? we may have gotten a little bit lost getting there. but once we were, it was a blast. we broke open glow in the dark sticks and splattered them all over the dark caves and ourselves. and then we played hide and seek. i think some of went back and swam at the boys' pool. i did not. i sat in dusty's apartment and talked to his roommate sam. and learned how to count from 1 to 10 in japanese. it was fun.
3. pizookie and the beach
last weekend when i was in california i went on a double date with jason (who served in my ward about 4 years ago), his girlfriend, and jason's friend. they took us to bj's in huntington beach for chocolate chip/oreo pizookie. so delish. new favorite dessert. after an intense conversation about music and the greatest bands of all time, we left bj's and headed for part two of the adventure. we stopped at a gas station and the boy's picked up some firewood. then we went to a private beach, laid out on blankets on the sand, watched the fire, and listened to jason and jacob play the guitar until 1:30 in the morning. it was pretty magical.
4. the fair last night
this wasn't really a date. but there were two boys. and two girls. so that's what i'm calling it. we drove 45 minutes listening to modest mouse, brand new, bright eyes, death cab and mumford & sons only to wind up at the eastern idaho state fair. we parked for free and got in for free, which was neat. but our dinner of chicken fingers for me and mark, a hamburger for madi and a chicken sandwich for george, was ridiculously expensive. but we didn't care because we were at a fair. the evening was full of ferris wheels, petting zoo's, mind boggler games, walking on water, pictures, hypnotists, walking with linked arms, and typical fair festivities. and followed by a drive home listening to the backstreet boys, taylor thrash, rihanna, and awolnation. i was in love with every second of last night.
this just turned into top 4. mostly because i'm running late and need to get on the road back to utah. but notice how all of these are while i'm away at school? well, except the california one. that's because boys in kansas don't know how to date. shout out to all the young men's and women's lessons on dating that make college fun.
