that time my best friend got married... in pictures

my best friend got married last month. i already pretty much summarized the whole day over here, but i wanted to share with you a few of my favorite pictures from the day!

the day started early. i was up at 7 to do my makeup and pack up my suitcase and bags. i headed to amara day spa, as recommended by my friend chantelle, to get my hair done. this girl alex came in extra early (8:30) before the salon opened just for me! we talked weddings, hideous bridesmaids' dresses of her past, and of how many friends we had getting married.

at 9:15 i was off to the mount timpanogos temple to watch my best friend and her jason walk out as husband and wife. the morning was cold and windy. family and friends were huddled in the waiting area just inside the temple. at 10:00 the mother of the bride announced that amy and jason were about to walk out! i got chills as they pushed through the doors, smiles and loving glances across their faces. amy looked stunning. i had forgotten what her dress looked like until then. but it was utterly beautiful. she was the most beautiful bride i had ever seen. and jason looked so dapper in his suit. they looked incredible.

after hugs and kisses were exchanged between the bride and groom and their families, we were directed to positions for photographs. after 30 minutes of picture taking we were "dismissed" and i met up with my friend (and one of amy's previous roommates) megan and [their other roommate] chelsea. literally all the three of us talked about for the rest of the day was how much we loved amy and how gorgeous of a bride she was. 

we headed to a little victorian house in provo for a luncheon for the wedding party, family, and close friends. after a fantastic salad and yummy chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies, amy and jason's dads offered words of advice, encouragement, and keys to a successful and happy marriage. i may or may not have teared up. it was pretty special. 

after the luncheon, we made our way back up to lehi for the reception. the room was beautifully decorated in blue and yellow, with the center pieces, food table, and flower arrangements set perfectly in place. there was music, dancing, mini cheesecakes, pictures, receiving lines, and unexpected guests! apparently one of jason's uncles and his wife were my primary teachers 15 or so years ago! the lds community is such a small, small world. it was great seeing them. amy and i got a moment alone when i helped her change her clothes in the dressing room. it was the only time i'd really seen her all day and it was nice to be able to congratulate her on my own.

it was finally time to let mr. and mrs. demke go. the reception guests each took blue and gray balloons to release as amy and jason left. it was such a happy day. by the afternoon/evening the sun had come out, the air had warmed up, and the wind had died down. the balloons left our hands as quickly as the happy couple sped off. 

it was such a good day. i am so sooo excited for amy and jason. i've never seen her this genuinely happy in the three years i've known her. they are truly a perfect match and i wish them all the luck in the world as they embark on their marital adventures. i love them both and i'm thrilled i got to be there on their special day!

this week!

it's here, boys and girls. the week my amy is getting maaaaarried! i have tomorrow and wednesday of work, and then thursday afternoon i'm headed out to utah! friday will be a day of who knows what and then saturday is the big day! my girl emily who i went to ecuador is picking me up from the airport (i haven't seen her since march of last year!) and then my friend logan is going to the wedding with me as my date (i haven't seen him since october of 2009 because he's been on his mission). it's going to be a weekend of smiling and pictures and pretty dresses and yummy food and lots of love. basically i am SO happy for my best friend and i'm thrilled she's asked me to be a part of her special day.

a little bit of vegas and a little bit of love

i'm in vegas right now and loving every second of it. the air is a perfect 65 degrees and i am unusually content. i'm loving spending time with my grandma, not worrying about the enormous to-do list i have waiting for me at home, and being with my vegas people. our kyle got married yesterday to the lovely jess elmer (which is why i'm down here in the first place) and they looked so happy! she's quite the catch, kyle's lucky...

the reception was beauuuutiful, and so fun, complete with hawaiian haystacks to eat, and lots of singing and dancing. i didn't get a picture with the bride and groom (sad face) but i was just happy to be there for my friend on his big day!

tomorrow i head back to rexburg, where i hear the snow gods did some work. i guess i can't be too mad though because we at least had fall for longer than we usually do! but before that... i get some pin kaow and a night on the strip. yay for vegas.

at world's end

i spent pretty much all weekend at wedding receptions. i worked friday night aaaaand saturday night, and it was exhausting. yesterday's event was stressful. everyone was having a rough night and there was lots of yelling, arguing, crying, and things not being ready on time. but by 8 or 9 when the music was booming from the speakers and people were flowing to the dance floor (and after the DJ announced we were safe from the rapture), things were looking up. the boys who were working as dish washers could tell i was having a bad night and they may or may not have let me throw cake in their face. i felt worlds better afterwards. at about 11 we heard the tornado sirens go off so we started herding drunk wedding guests to the basement. it was a pretty eventful evening.

also, i've been spending a lot of time with this boy.

and i got to skype with this one for a couple hours the other day.

this week i also got to see my bank account finally surpass the $1000 mark! today is graduation for all the seniors at my high school and i'm going to a few open houses in a couple hours. i can't believe that was me two years ago! that's just weeeeiiiiird.

anyways, happy sunday, everybody!

i think i want to move here

hello world; alright, its 1:34am and clearly my homework is not getting done. so i just figured i'd put my procrastination to use and do something productive liiiiiike blog! yay me.

i had the absolute most fabulous weekend. calaighs reception was on thursday. she and sterling looked incredible. and so very happy. i almost peed my pants when i saw them, i just got way too excited. i did get to see phil and jimmy though, and that was good.

then friday night i stayed home and made brownies with sue and talked to her and we just had the very best time.

saturday i watched general conference at the petersen's. and then at like 4 we headed up to salt lake cause bruce and andrew were going to watch the priesthood session at the conference center. they dropped me off in downtown salt lake to go find emily. it was quite an adventure. but i just followed the sea of mormons and i was just fine. its temple square right after conference gets out, i mean, nothing was gonna happen. so i found my sweet emily and i about screamed. we didnt get a proper goodbye in rexy so i was ecstatic to see her.

then we played with her cousin robert. and went shopping at gateway and i spent all

sorts of money i didnt have and it was just fantastic. let me tell you what i bought...

• awesome glasses in which i look like a complete freak, but i cant get enough of
• peace earrings
• a ring that turned my finger green but i still wear anyhow
• aaaaaand thats it

okay so i didnt do too bad.

basically i just love every weekend i spend in utah and i cant wait til im living there in SIX MONTHS. yesssss it will be just spectacular. also can i just say a couple things? the boy that took me down to utah (sam) is the absolute greatest and tonight after he dropped me off he said, "hey, lets hangout" and it just about turned me into a puddle. it was fantastic. and i talked to phil tonight and i just really like him sometimes. and also jimmy told me i looked cute at the wedding. so that's always a plus. but it's only because i was wearing betsy's cute highwaisted skirt from forever 21. so thaaaaank youuuuuu betsy for getting me a "you looked cute at calaigh's wedding" ...i sincerely appreciate it. i think that's all i have for you.

back to my homework, which i haven't yet started. even though it is now 1:51am. paige sucks :(
