i'm happy

the last three weeks have been full of; driving across the country, playing with best friends, meeting new people, random exciting dates, concerts, the beach, disneyland, long car rides, good food, good conversation, finally winning a game of pool, moving in to my new apartment, getting hardly any sleep, losing three pounds, hair cuts, shopping on the strip, cafe rio, ferris wheels and petting zoos, hot tubs, reunions with missionaries from my mission, sunrises, sunsets, and enjoying my last weekend before school starts.

it's been the epitome of perfection and i'm not ready for it to end. but i'm really excited about ending my 9 month hiatus from school. it's time to get back to the real world (unfortunately), and i'm ready for change.

oh, and p.s.
i got accepted to china!
i still feel like i need to pray about it and make sure it's gonna be the right thing for me to do this winter. but i'm excited nonetheless. four months from now i'll be in asia with chelsie teaching english to little chinese kids. i think that sounds pretty good to me. winter 2011 was spent in ecuador, winter 2012... hi china :)

(top 4) on friday

tonight is  emily's wedding reception! she got married last week in omaha, but she's having her utah reception tonight. once upon a time we hung out a lot. like here and here. i miss her. and i cannot wait to see her and her man. all my friends are getting married and having babies. it's super weird.

aaaaanyways. i haven't done a top 5 post in a while. so here's to my...

(top 4) best dates
in no particular order

1. breakfast & the world cup & the drive-in

last summer i was up in rexburg at school. last summer was also the world cup, if you don't recall. my friend justin had been crushin' a little bit on amy. so he called me one saturday morning and asked if amy and i wanted to come over and he and riley would make us breakfast. so, we did. the four of us just hung out in our sweats and ate eggs, bacon, pancakes, and french toast. the boys cleaned up the mess in the kitchen and then we watched the united states play england. i'm pretty sure there was also a pretty awesome backrub train going on too. after the game was over we went our separate ways to get some homework and chores done. but later that night justin asked us to go to the drive-in with him and another friend. we saw...marmaduke? it was completely retarded. but it was the drive-in. and we were on a couch in the back of a truck. so it was fantastic. it was suuuuch a good day. amen.

2. glow in the dark at the caves

it was the first weekend of school last fall semester and emily and i were bored out of our miiiiiinds. my friend dusty called me and said a bunch of them we're gonna go play glow in the dark hide and seek at the caves and asked if emily and i wanted to join their group. uhhh, yes please? we may have gotten a little bit lost getting there. but once we were, it was a blast. we broke open glow in the dark sticks and splattered them all over the dark caves and ourselves. and then we played hide and seek. i think some of went back and swam at the boys' pool. i did not. i sat in dusty's apartment and talked to his roommate sam. and learned how to count from 1 to 10 in japanese. it was fun.

3. pizookie and the beach

last weekend when i was in california i went on a double date with jason (who served in my ward about 4 years ago), his girlfriend, and jason's friend. they took us to bj's in huntington beach for chocolate chip/oreo pizookie. so delish. new favorite dessert. after an intense conversation about music and the greatest bands of all time, we left bj's and headed for part two of the adventure. we stopped at a gas station and the boy's picked up some firewood. then we went to a private beach, laid out on blankets on the sand, watched the fire, and listened to jason and jacob play the guitar until 1:30 in the morning. it was pretty magical.

4. the fair last night

this wasn't really a date. but there were two boys. and two girls. so that's what i'm calling it. we drove 45 minutes listening to modest mouse, brand new, bright eyes, death cab and mumford & sons only to wind up at the eastern idaho state fair. we parked for free and got in for free, which was neat. but our dinner of chicken fingers for me and mark, a hamburger for madi and a chicken sandwich for george, was ridiculously expensive. but we didn't care because we were at a fair. the evening was full of ferris wheels, petting zoo's, mind boggler games, walking on water, pictures, hypnotists, walking with linked arms, and typical fair festivities. and followed by a drive home listening to the backstreet boys, taylor thrash, rihanna, and awolnation. i was in love with every second of last night.

this just turned into top 4. mostly because i'm running late and need to get on the road back to utah. but notice how all of these are while i'm away at school? well, except the california one. that's because boys in kansas don't know how to date. shout out to all the young men's and women's lessons on dating that make college fun.

(i seriously suck at) tumblr thursday

my thursday's are just busy lately, guys. i can't help it. yesterday i drove from provo to rexburg, moved all my stuff from my car to my room (it's still not all unpacked) and then went to a fair with madi, mark (who served in my ward a couple months ago) and mark's friend george. the fair was so much fun. and i'm sure there will probably be pictures to come. anyways, in all the mess of yesterday, i didn't get to tumblr thursday. forgive me. but here it is, on friday, again...

limbo

i've been everywhere the last couple of weeks. and by everywhere, i mean all over about half the country...

august 20th - i drove from kansas, through missouri, iowa, nebraska, wyoming, and to utah
august 29th - i drove from utah, through arizona, to vegas
september 1st - i drove from vegas, to california
september 3rd - i drove back to vegas, from california

and my plan was to drive today from vegas, back to utah. well. that's not going to happen for me today, as the tires i need for my car haven't arrived from wherever they were coming. and now i'm stuck in vegas for at least another day. i should be in utah. i should be in cassie's bed, waiting for her to come home from work.

oh well. today is going to be full of laundry, packing, and a froyo date with dallan. hooray.

(p.s. i miss my long hair... make it come back)

look what i did today

normally my mom highlights my hair. out of a box. and she does a good job. maybe if she wasn't a lawyer she should be a hair stylist. orrrr not. she's a good lawyer. anyways. on july 5th it looked like this...

i was desperate for some highlights the other day and tried to do them myself. it's harder than it looks people! welllll i don't think i left them in long enough. so my hair was this lovely orange for my trip to california. my grandma told me she'd pay to get it fixed. so this morning at 9:30 i went in and asked carlie to give me a full set of highlights, and maybe a little trim. i walked out looking like this...

oops. the good news is my mom doesn't hate it.
